[A hero. Being called that feels bizarre these days. Jason knows that what he does these days is far from heroic. Hell, the bar itself is a front. It's a family-shared front but still, the building has a secret purpose other than being a safe spot for metas.

Jason rubs the back of his neck and bows his head slightly, playing up how humbled he feels]

Again, giving me too much credit. It just seems to make sense. That's all.

Yeah, but people here don't want to make sense, right? They want us to follow their rules, even when all we want is to be free.

Yeah... And then for some of us, we don't like that so we have to carve out our own spaces.

[Mark doesn't comment about how much that sounds like a discussion of queer spaces, he's never really been sure if he properly belonged in them. But it's still a relief.]

[Jason smiles back as he bends down, aims, and does his break shot on the pool table]

[Hearing it, Mark returns to the table and then takes some shots. Yeah, this works.]

Really? Always thought I was more of a blue-collar guy.

Nah. Modeling. I do work out so maybe that could be another option for me.

Yeah. Are there any lights for it? I wanna get it with the real vibe.

Sure. I'll go set them up.

[Jason walks over the right side of the stage to adjust the lights. It's a small area since it's mainly for karaoke and smaller acts after all. But at least it's in good shape.]

[Yeah, that's good. Mark has to work through a few things, changing his settings, before finally taking his pictures.]

You've got good lights here. Enough to accent without hurting eyes. Good choice.

Thanks. I kinda had to just eyeball it. It's been a long time since I had to message with stage lights.

You did stage work in the past?

Nothing professional. Just volunteered to be stage crew back when I was in middle school.

I wish I could have done that in high school.

[But nah, he couldn't get time for that.]
